Ramses 13. Rockwell

Ramses 13. Rockwell, whose actual name is Ramses Razmjoo, was born in Iran and brought up in London. At the age of 5, the Swiss citizen and his family moved to Bochum in Germany, where his development as a guitarist began.

Influenced by his father, who was a flamenco guitarist, Ramses started to play the guitar already at the age of 5. Just a couple of years later, by the age of 11, Ramses discovered his passion for rock music. The most influencing bands at that time were AC/DC and Van Halen. “I remember the first time I heard Eddie.....Jesus!”, he says. Instrumental artists, such as Steve Vai and Joe Satriani and, of course, Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck, had a great impact on him and his development as a virtuosic guitarist. But also funk music was a style, which was appealing to him.

Nowadays his musical interests reach from rock, pop, funk to all kinds of electronic music, including house music. In his teenage years, shortly after getting his first electric guitar, Ramses started playing in bands. By the age of 17 his musical ambitions got stronger and his band intensified rehearsals, which lead to first press articles, gigs in the biggest local venue and to a private investor who financed a professional demo tape. The years-long guitar practice started to bear fruit. Due to an accident at the age of 23 he then had to regain control over his left hand, which he had lost in consequence of a neurological damage to the main branch of nerves. A process that took about 4 years.

Ramses played as an opener for bands like:

The Cure, Rammstein, HIM, Green Day, Sisters of Mercy, Fields of Nephilim and many others. He also auditioned for the band Limp Bizkit and was one of the last three participants in Los Angeles. This event was filmed by the German Television Channel VIVA and broadcasted in a three part TV show called: “Ramses in L.A.”

Sideman:

He has also played with the well-known Gothic Bands Near Dark and Secret Discovery and has had several album releases.

Solo Artist:

He recorded his debut album, „Guitar Gangster“ in his own studio (Pharao Studio), with some of the top musicians like Thomas Lang (Paul Gilbert, Robbie Williams, Tina Turner, Georg Michael, Falco) on drums, Pete Griffin (Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Zakk Wylde,Yngwie Malmsteen, Dweezil Zappa) and Fabio Trentini (Guano Apes, H-Blockx, Marco Minnemann, Mr. Mister, Moonbound) on bass.
